Police registration

Dear Team,

Am I right that I should register in police on arrival to UK (The first trip to collect my BRP and go out from UK) ? Need to give them my UK address with evidence.
I’m not planning immediately to rent a flat there. Please advise what I should do in this case.

One of the readers in my Blog has already asked me about very similar question.
Perhaps, it will be useful for you too.

Hey Mike,

Regardless of whether you have a permanent address or only an Airbnb address, you have to come to the Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO) https://www.gov.uk/register-with-the-police/where-to-register and provide them with your permanent/temporary address.
But keep in mind that they are under a lot of pressure right now. They will most likely give you a piece of paper telling you that you have arrived there as needed, but you will have to come back in January or February 2020. Even so, you should be there in 7 days.

Thank you Ivan, do I need to provide any evidence to them? F.e. Hotel/airbnb booking? Is it ok if there will some like 10 days booking in Airbnb?

Actually I do not know because when I got there they gave me this piece of paper with an appointment in Jan 2020.

Hi Ivan, I just want to clarify - you have visited The Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO). (323 Borough High Street London SE1 1JL - that one(if you in London)?)
You showed to them you documents but they did’n registred you but gave you admission slip with appointment in Jan 2020. Correct? BTW, Some exact date and time or just in Jan?
Do you need to provide to them some proof of your permanent/temporary address?
What if I’m going to stay at my friend apartment?

Hey Mike,

Yes, I visited The Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO) at https://goo.gl/maps/F1fFQaT7RX4w5p4A9

There is a guy in front of the door with a bunch of slips. You just need to say that you’d like to register as a newcomer. He will double-check whether you are going to register as a newcomer or you are just changing your registered address. Then he will give you a slip with a specific date and time when you will need to come back to go through the registration process.

Here you can find a list of the docs that you need to bring with you https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/ov/registering-overseas-visitor/af2/overseas-document-checklist/
Please note that you need to fill in and print out the registration form in advance.
